Our rate doesn't change when you cross the county line. Whether you're moving in Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton, it's $150 an hour for two movers and a 16-foot liftgate truck, with a $250 minimum. No deposit to book.
So why do two moves of the "same size" end up costing different amounts? It comes down to time. Here's what actually moves the number, and what you can do about it.
Same rate, both counties
| Broward County | Palm Beach County | |
|---|---|---|
| Two movers + truck | $150/hour | $150/hour |
| Minimum | $250 | $250 |
| Deposit | None | None |
| Packing | Billed extra, hourly | Billed extra, hourly |
We do local moves only, within South Florida. A typical local move takes about 4 to 6 hours, and most of them get quoted somewhere around $550 to $850. Your move could be less or more depending on the things below.
What actually changes the total
Drive time between addresses
A move from one side of Pompano Beach to the other is a short drive. A move from Pembroke Pines up to Boca Raton means more time on I-95 or the Turnpike, and that time is on the clock. Traffic matters too. A Friday afternoon on I-95 is not the same as a Tuesday morning.
Building rules
Condos and apartments add time. Elevator reservations, loading docks, long hallways, and buildings that only let you move during certain hours all stretch the day. If you're in a high-rise in Fort Lauderdale or Boca, read our post on condo and HOA move rules before you book.
Stairs
A second-floor walk-up takes longer than a ground-floor unit or a house with a driveway. Every trip up and down adds up over a whole day.
How packed you are
This is the big one. If everything is boxed, taped, and ready when we show up, we just load. If we're waiting on drawers to get emptied or packing a kitchen at the last minute, that's time you're paying for. If you want us to do the packing, that's fine, it's just billed extra by the hour.
Tips to keep your hours down
- Have everything packed and taped before we arrive.
- Reserve the elevator at both buildings and tell us the times.
- Make sure the truck has a place to park close to the door.
- Take apart beds and tables ahead of time if you're comfortable doing it.
- Get rid of what you're not keeping before moving day, not during it.
- Group boxes near the door or in one room.
- Pick a weekday if you can. Traffic and building schedules are usually easier.
